✿About Me✿

Who is Catherine Rothschild?

Hello! I'm Catherine, the creator behind MysticalRoseFavours! I design a wide range of quality gifts that represent a gentle and romantic lifestyle as I believe that all lovely ladies who adore the royalty of the romantic purple rose, colourful stationary and romantic gifts deserve to lead a life of elegance, creativity and femininity!  I love floral stationary and purple love hearts! While growing up as a young English Kiwi girl in the early 2000's in Chigwell, I wore floral print outfits that also ranged from butterflies, bunnies and love hearts. I also owned lots of floral print stationary and doodled in them often.

In 2021 I opened my first gift shop on Etsy called CatherineMichelleR. I designed cute keychains, stickers, mugs and notebooks with Snapfish as my production partner, as I had used them for printing out my previous projects through my time in College and University. The artwork was quiet different to how it is today with a more simple pop-art style with simple bold colours, illustrated and painted by hand and with unedited photographs.

However, in 2023 I discovered Zazzle, a marketplace that supports artists and small businesses with their unique product designs. I instantly fell in love with their heart-shaped notebooks and wished I had that growing up. I made my first purchase with them with my artwork printed onto the covers and loved it immensely!

Shortly afterwards I renamed my shop as MysticalRoseFavours and redesigned my artwork to better reflect the new brand. Today I design my products with swirled flowers and love hearts. I use Photoshop to create gradient backgrounds, colourful line artwork and digital watercolour paintings effects on my photographs.

✿College✿

In 2012 I worked my way from level 1 BTEC in Art & Design to level 3 extended in Barking and Dagenham College for four years. However while I remained dedicated to each project my skills with traditional art materials only developed so far.

(The first four pictures are from my time in secondary school while the rest are from my time in College.)

I was recommended by my tutor to try a photography course to increase my digital art skills after reviewing my progress with our Reflection and Distortion project which was my first experience with photography and photoshop. So I felt that maybe Art Photography would be the next step for me!

In 2015 I moved to Epping Forest College (New City College) in Debden to brush up on my photography and photoshop skills with a UAL level 4 and 5 Photography course. I learnt so much with how to use Photoshop to turn my photographs into unique art pieces and discovered many photographic techniques like bokeh photography with star filters, light painting and photo collage!

✿University✿

In 2018 I went back to Barking and Dagenham College to take part in their collaboration photography course with East London University.

✿Work✿

During my time in Secondary School, College and University I worked part-time to gain experience and help pay for my courses.

In Secondary School 2011 I worked for Hobby Craft in Romford as part of my work
experience but was informed that I lacked confidence in engaging with customers so in my first two years in college (2012-2014) I volunteered for a small charity shop called Scope in Chigwell to build my confidence with customer service. I have also done voluntary outdoor and indoor wall paintings for my college courses and local youth group centre during my late teen years (ages 16 - 19).

My first paid job was when I
worked as an ambassador for Epping Forest College in Debden in between classes to help pay towards my photography course. I was in charge of guiding potential new students and their parents around the art and photography  departments class and answering any questions they had in regards to the courses.

In University I did two internships. The first was two weeks in Barcelona for Zero I U, a company that restores old photos and video tapes and turn them into CDs and clean the scratches and blemishes of old photographs. I would use Photoshop to clean and edit the photos and then place them onto CD cover templates.
My second internship was Haven House Children's Hospice Shop in Romford where I would photograph products in their studio room and post them onto eBay. Unfortunately this job was during the 2020 pandemic so I was only able to work there for a single day before they needed to close down and I was promised that I could receive paid work eventually after the pandemic but I never heard back and have struggled to find work again since. This was my favourite job and the one where I felt the most comfortable and confident doing so it was such a shame I couldn't pursue it further.

After struggling to find work again for several years after receiving my Bachelors in Photography since the 2020 pandemic I decided to be my own boss and start self-employment. I started out with posting my photographs onto Picfair and Dreamstime but I never received any acknowledgement there and I found their rules too restrictive.

Today I am self-employed with two jobs. I work part-time with market research for online surveys but i spend the majority of the time working for MysticalRoseFavours, my online gift shop. I work hard on my website, Etsy and Zazzle stores, social media and creating artwork and photographs to design my products.

✿The Future✿

I'm considering many options for the future for myself and my gift shop!

For example I'd love to advance MysticalRoseFavours into a physical shop with paid workers and art groups and be in partnership for many charities as a way to give back to the community for all the experiences I've had from life up to this point.

I want to hire other creative artists on board to help with commissions and sell their artwork as part of my shop's brand with fair royalties and promotion as a sincere  thank you for sharing their artwork with me and allowing me to use their artwork with my brand and products.

I want to achieve a Master of Arts in the future and maybe work as an art therapist if that would ever be possible!

MysticalRoseFavours is considered a Private individual with Catherine as a sole trader.

Thank you for supporting my small business.
